About the Film

Buying Her tells the stories of men who buy sex. Through unprecedented, riveting first-person accounts, this hard-hitting documentary takes a deep dive into the lives of several former “Johns,” following their journeys from their first exposure to pornography as children to their first purchase of a woman as adults. Buying Her is a tale of lost innocence, obsession, downfall, and redemption.

In the machine of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, sex buyers are the central cog – yet their stories are rarely told. Buying Her explores the journey of these men, uncovers how porn and prostitution led them to a dead-end road of sexual perpetration and self-destruction and reveals how hope for change can be found in the most unlikely of places.

Benjamin Nolot

The film is the first documentary ever to explore the lives of sex buyers and what drives them, providing a lens through which many have never seen. Through deeply insightful firsthand accounts of sex buyers, the film lays bare their journeys from childhood exposure to pornography to becoming hardened predators and ultimately to redemption.

The doors open at 6 PM, show starts at 6:45 PM.

Following the film, there will be a Q&A panel discussion of advocates and survivors working to end modern-day slavery.

Magdalene Hope’s – Freedom Women’s Conference

On behalf of Magdalene Hope’s Board of Directors, volunteers, and family, we are pleased to welcome you to our sixth annual Freedom Women’s Conference! How blessed and honored are we, to share a day with you, filled with praise, glory, and honor to our loving Father, who brings all good things from Heaven to Earth. This year’s theme is “Greater Things.”

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12 NIV.

This verse found in John is a quote from Jesus. He said, that we would do greater things than He did. What were the greater things Jesus did? He performed signs, wonders, miracles, and operated in the prophetic, to name a few. We at Magdalene Hope are seeing signs, wonders, miracles, and the gift of prophecy on a regular basis. We believe at this year’s conference we will see these things take place.

Last year one of our attendees was in serious pain. She came anyway, believing God for a miracle. During ministry time, she came forward for prayer and our founder, Dr. Doug Bennett, noticed that one leg was shorter than the other. As he prayed, her leg grew ¾”, the same length as her other leg. Her pain instantly went (on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worse) from an 8 to a 2. By the lunch break her pain was completely gone and she had been healed. Praise God! We are believing Him for more of this, at this years conference.

Here is her quote following the conference: (That evening at 10:32 PM) I’m limping around the house as if I was still in pain. I have to remember that I have been healed and I can walk straight without any pain. My miracle was worth getting out of bed and attending the conference by myself. (Later that night at 2:14 AM) Still no pain, very easy to get out of bed. God is great!!! When asked by Dr. Bennett if he could share her story, she replied, “No I don’t mind you sharing my testimony. The Lord is taking care of business and healing just like he healed the lepers.’ – Susie Brock, 2021 Freedom Women’s Conference attendee.

Won’t you join us and refill your cup? It’s time to remember that you are unshakable when you partner with Him! Come spend a day in worship, study, praise, and shopping! It’s time to rediscover the joy of living everyday in His presence!

This year’s conference will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 9 AM – 4 PM at The River Church, located at 928 17th Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301. Doors open at 8AM!
